Emily Martinez Earns Conference USA All-Academic Honors

BIRMINGHAM – Senior Emily Martinez has earned Conference USA All-Academic honors after posting a 3.50 GPA in her Masters of Accounting program, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The Comfort, Texas, native earned her bachelor's degree in accounting in three years and has used her senior year to pursue her master's degree. Over the course of her time at UAB, Martinez has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times and has earned the C-USA Academic Medal on three occasions as well.
This is the first time Martinez has been named to the C-USA All-Academic team.
"I am extremely proud of Emily and pleased that she has been awarded a spot on the All-Academic team," head coach Amy Pauly said. "She is completely deserving of this recognition and has been a staple on the team over the course of her four seasons. More importantly, she has represented our program with class on and off the court, she is so dedicated to her class work and I am so proud of her."
Martinez appeared in 417 sets in her career, mostly at libero, and made 24 starts. Martinez registered 1,316 digs in four seasons, placing her 10th all-time in UAB history.
