BIRMINGHAM – The UAB volleyball team wrapped up its three-game homestand, 2-1, after falling to UTSA in four sets (17-25, 20-25, 25-19, 16-25) on Sunday inside Bartow Arena.
Sophomore Abby Carlile led the Blazers' offense with 14 kills and a .312 hitting percentage while adding four blocks. Emily Rudolph chipped in six kills, hit .294 and led the team in blocks with six.
"Abby is consistently one of the most competitive kids on our roster," head coach Amy Pauly said. "She did really well in the first set and then UTSA made adjustments and slowed her down for a little while. She bounced right back though and stayed aggressive and kept swinging. That's what our whole season is about, it's about the recovery skills and still being competitive even after someone puts pressure on you."
UAB drops to 10-9, 2-3 in Conference USA play while UTSA improves to 12-5, 4-1 in C-USA action.
