Women’s Golf Ties for Fifth at Starmount Fall Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UAB women's golf team fell two spots on the final day of the Starmount Fall Classic and finished in a tie for fifth place in its second tournament of the season.
Playing at Starmount Forest Country Club, the Blazers shot a 305 (+17) on the final day of action and were +41 for the tournament overall (303-297-305 = 905, +41).
Junior Kendall Johnson was UAB's low round of the day with a two-over 74, and finished third on the team at +10 overall and in a tie for 17th place.
Tia Teiniketo led the Blazers and finished in a tie 10th place finish at +5. Teiniketo shot a 77 (+5) in Tuesday's final round.
Maria Donado finished two shots behind Teiniketo at +7 and in a tie for 14th place. Kenna Hughes was +19 and tied for 42nd overall, while freshman Lexie Dawson rounded out the Blazer lineup in a tie for 62nd place.
Tennessee ran away with the team title by shooting +2 overall and won the tournament by 35 strokes. UNC Greensboro (+37), High Point (+40), Troy (+40), UAB (+41) and Appalachian State (+41) rounded out the top five.
UAB continue its fall slate in two weeks when the Blazers travel to the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational hosted by C-USA foe UTSA. The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 14-16 in San Antonio.
