BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a fifth-place finish at the Starmount Fall Classic, the UAB women's golf team looks to carry that momentum into the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational hosted by the UTSA at TPC San Antonio, AT&T Canyon Course.
The three-day tournament is set for 18 holes apiece on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14-16. The Blazers will field a team consisting of Tia Teiniketo, Maria Donado, Kendall Johnson, Kenna Hughes and Stephenie Fowler, while Lexie Dawson will play as an individual.
The field has a Conference USA flare to it with four teams from the league participating in the tournament. Along with UAB and the host Roadrunners, Marshall and North Texas are also in the tournament from C-USA. The rest of the nine-team field consists of Tennessee, Houston, TCU, Oral Roberts and Incarnate Word.
"We are looking forward to playing not only in a great field, but against three other teams from our conference," head coach Ryan Ashburn said. "We are paired with North Texas and UTSA in the first round and it's a great opportunity to play with them. Weather conditions are a bit different here, but I feel confident that we have been preparing for this event all week."
The Blazers are paired with UTSA and North Texas in the first round and will tee off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning,
