TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Facing its second SEC opponent in as many days, the UAB men's tennis dropped another tough battle on the road as it fell to the Alabama Crimson Tide, 4-0, in the Roberta Allison Baumgardner Tennis Facility on Monday.

The Blazers are now 0-2 on the year after dropping a tough decision to No. 14 Mississippi State on Sunday, 7-0.

Alabama took the early lead in doubles play after Edson Ortiz and Mazen Osama defeated Tim Dollman and Stefan Gonzalez, 6-1 and Riccardo Robert and Zhe Zhou and Anru Fourie and Kenton Parton, 6-3, securing the doubles point for the Crimson Tide.

Nikolai Manchev and Henry Paiste recorded the best finish in doubles as they took Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov down to the wire as their match went unfinished tied at four games apiece.

Alabama secured its victory in straight matches on the bottom three courts as Zhou topped Giovani Pasini (6-1, 6-2), Nesterov defeated Fourie (6-0, 6-2) and Roberto downed Manchev (6-2, 6-0).

Parton found himself in a battle with Ortiz on court three, completing just one set before the match concluded.

UAB returns to action on Jan. 21 as the Blazers open Conference USA play on the road at Middle Tennessee. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. CST.
