BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior R.J. Keur and Sophomore William Walker both shot seven under par at the Shoal Creek Invitational and tied for third place overall to lead the host UAB men's golf team in its second fall tournament of the season.

Walker, who entered the final day of competition at -9 and with a two-stroke lead, was two over on the final 18, while Keur finished two under for the day, including an eagle on 17 and a birdie on 18 to round out his tournament.

"I am really proud of both William and R.J. for how they represented UAB men's golf this week," said head coach Mike Wilson. "To have two players finish in top three is quite the feat in a field like we had and this should propel them into a strong finish to their fall play."

Walker started the day +2 on the front nine, and then carded two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine to finish his tournament at -7. Keur had two birdies and three bogeys through the first 15 holes, but finished with a flurry by shooting three under on his final three holes to move up the leaderboard and into a tie for third with Walker.

No. 11 Wake Forest entered the day with the team lead and ran away with the title by shooting six under on the final day and finished at -15 for the tournament.

Liberty (-2), North Florida (-1), Ole Miss (E), and Georgia Southern (+1) rounded out the top five. UAB finished the tournament at +6 and in seventh place overall.

Individually, Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss, who is the reigning NCAA National Champion, won the event at nine under, and was followed by Paul McBride of Wake Forest (-8), Walker, Keur (-7) and Cameron Young of Wake Forest (-5).

The Blazers return to action on Oct. 9-10 when they participate in the Jerry Pate Invitational hosted at Old Overton in Birmingham.
