Men’s Golf Returns to Links at Old Overton

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's golf team returns to the links after a weekend off to participate in the Jerry Pate Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama at Old Overton in Birmingham.
The Blazers will be playing on their home course and have had great success in this tournament in years past, including a fourth place finish last year that saw UAB beat teams including such as the Crimson Tide, Arkansas, Florida State and Mississippi State.
This year's 12 team field is comprised of: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Brigham Young, Charlotte, Michigan, Mississippi State, Samford, South Alabama, UAB and UNLV.
The Blazers are paired with BYU and Michigan for the first two days and tee off at 7:30 a.m. Competing for the Blazers are Taylor Eyster, R.J. Keur, John Racciatti, Nick Robillard and William Walker.
Walker and Keur lead the team after both shot -7 at the Shoal Creek Invitational two weeks ago. Walker highlighted the tournament by shooting a course record 64 in the opening round. Both Walker and Keur have been under par in each of the first two tournaments this season.
Taylor Eyster looks to replicate his top-5 finish at last year's Jerry Pate, while the Blazer lineup is rounded out by freshmen Racciatti and Robillard who are playing in a tournament at Old Overton for the first time in their collegiate careers.
The tournament will feature 36 holes on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Fans can follow live results for all 54 holes on golfstat.com.
