UAB Returns Home Saturday to Host Coastal Carolina

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team returns home to Legion Field this Saturday, Sept. 16, to host Coastal Carolina with kickoff set for noon.
The Blazers (1-1) look to improve to 2-0 at home this season after opening the year with a 38-7 victory over Alabama A&M at Legion Field. UAB suffered its first loss of the season last week on the road at Ball State.
Coastal Carolina (1-0) picked up its first win as a member of FBS with a 38-28 victory over UMass in week one. The Chanticleers had a bye last week to prepare for the Blazers.

RUSHING ATTACK:
UAB enters week three leading Conference USA and ranking 12th nationally in rushing yards per game (297.5). The Blazers compiled a season high 336 rushing yards at Ball State, led by quarterback A.J. Erdely and freshman running back Spencer Brown.
Erdely rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns against Ball State and is the C-USA leader in rushing touchdowns (4) heading into this week.
In just his second collegiate game, Spencer Brown erupted for 151 yards on 17 carries (8.9 YPC). The Birmingham product has gained 193 yards in his first two games and is averaging 8.0 yards per carry. His 96.5 rushing yards per game currently ranks him fourth in C-USA.
DEFENSIVE LEADERS:
Despite 51 points on the board at the end of the game for Ball State, the UAB defense only surrendered 377 yards of total offense to the Cardinals. Senior linebacker Tevin Crews tallied a career high 15 tackles at Ball State and has led the UAB defense in tackles in each of the Blazers' two games this season. His 11.0 tackles per game ranks him third in C-USA.
Safety Broderick Thomas is second on the team with 14 total tackles and had nine of those at Ball State.
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA:
Under interim head coach Jamey Chadwell, the Chanticleers made the jump to FBS this year and compete as members of the Sun Belt. After a highly successful run in the FCS, Coastal opened its season with a 38-28 victory at home over the UMass Minutemen.
The Chanticleers' offense features a triple option attack that ran the ball 47 times against UMass and had four rushing touchdowns.
