Former Blazer Returns As Volunteer Assistant

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Former UAB Blazer Amber Torres-Reimers is returning to the softball field as a member of the UAB softball coaching staff.
Head coach Marla Townsend announced Thursday morning that Reimers will be join the staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Townsend said Reimers will work with the pitching staff.
"We are excited to have Amber join our staff," Townsend said. "She excelled on and off the field here as a student-athlete and I look forward to seeing her work with our already talented pitching staff this coming season."
Reimers finished her UAB career with 26 career wins, a 2.81 ERA, 19 complete games and eight shutouts to go along with 180 strikeouts. All records that rank in the top-10 in UAB softball history.
Reimers was also a part of UAB squads that made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2010 to 2012.
Since graduating from UAB, Reimers has continued to stay active in softball as both a player and a coach. She was a player/coach for the Vienna Wanderers in Vienna, Austria in 2012 before returning to the US as a coach with various softball programs including the Cyclones 00 and Team Alabama 05.
Reimers has also been a staple at the Marla Townsend Fastpitch School since 2009 while also conducting private lessons of her own since 2013.
Reimers graduated from Sparkman High School in Huntsville, Ala. She earned her degree from UAB in Exercise Science in 2012.
