UAB Drops Two Games On Saturday

BOSTON, Ma. - UAB falls to 0-3 on the season after dropping two games Saturday to Fairfield and Boston College.
The volleyball team lost in five sets (25-17, 16-25, 25-19, 24-26, 13-15) to Fairfield in the morning session. UAB finished the match with a .238 hitting percentage, 56 kills and 78 digs. Haley Jared and Gabby Deshotel led the Blazers in kills with 17 and 13 respectively. Petra Silic chipped in with 11 kills of her own.
Silic also led the green and gold in blocks with five while Kenley Adams and Victoria Young both added four. For the second straight game, Adams posted over 50 assists.
In the nightcap, UAB fell to Boston College in four sets (18-25, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25). Deshotel and Erika Zembyla led the Blazers in kills against the Eagles with Zembyla totaling 14 and Deshotel notching 13. Adams again led UAB in assists with 30.
UAB led Boston College in points with 68, in kills with 52, assists with 44 and the Blazers blocked 11 total Eagle attacks. In the end, errors cost the Blazers in this one. They committed 31 attack errors, had nine service errors and took seven reception errors.
UAB will return home on Aug. 31 for the Blazer Invitational. The tournament will run through Sept. 3 with UAB hosting Georgia State, Charleston Southern, Austin Peay and Western Illinois.
