14 Days Until Blazer Volleyball Hits The Court For 2017

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB volleyball returns in just 14 days for the 2017 season! To count down to the start of the 2017 season, UABSports.com will profile each of the 19 players till the Blazers hit the court against the Providence Friars in Boston on August 25.
Need to Know
The Blazers will open the season on the road at the Boston College Invitational (Aug. 25-26) and will square off against Providence in the first match of the season followed by matches versus Fairfield and Boston College.
UAB returns home to host the Blazer Invitational set (Aug. 31 – Sept. 3) against Georgia State, Charleston Southern, Austin Peay and Western Illinois. The first non-tournament match will be Sept. 5 at Troy. The Green & Gold will play in another tournament at Evansville University before coming home to host the "Fight like Hal Memorial Tournament," set for Sept. 15 and 16.
Mississippi Valley State, Western Carolina and New Orleans will be the other teams coming to Bartow Arena for the tournament.
The conference schedule kicks off on the road at Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 22 and at UTEP on Sept. 24. The first home Conference USA match will be against Charlotte on Friday Sept. 29.
UAB plays a total of 16 games at Bartow Arena this season with the seasons last home game pitting UAB versus Florida Atlantic on Thursday Nov. 19. The last game of the year will be at Marshall Saturday Nov. 11.
Countdown to Volleyball: 14 Days
Freshman Haley Fuller takes her turn on the countdown today and will be wearing number 14 for the Blazers this season.
Fuller began playing volleyball in fifth grade and has played ever since. Her favorite volleyball moment was when her team went into the state tournament unranked and finished second her sophomore year of high school. Fuller was named Second Team All-Conference her junior year and was named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State her senior season.

What Makes UAB Special to You: I never thought that I'd be going to the South for school but when I came on my visit it felt like home and when I stood in Bartow I could see myself going up on the net and getting kills and helping the UAB volleyball team win some games. The girls and the coaches feel like family and I couldn't be more thankful.
