Chandler and Snodgrass Tabbed WGCA Academic All-American Scholars

Duo Earns Second Academic Achievement Award

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Senior Rebecca Chandler and junior Sydney Snodgrass of the UAB women's golf team were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars as announced by the WGCA offices Wednesday.
"I am so proud of them," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "Both work diligently on academics and golf. A big thank you goes to our academic advisor, Josh Watson, who has always been involved in their progress."
With one of the of the most stringent criteria for selection, golfers must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 throughout the year. A total of 952 student-athletes were honored with 23 hailing from Conference USA.
Chandler graduated from UAB in the spring of 2017 with a degree in business management. She carried a 3.97 GPA, was a member of the Collat School of Business Honors Program and was the Department of Management's Student of the Year. The Northport, Ala., native was named to the 2017 Conference USA All-Academic Team, was a four-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal as well as the Commissioner's Honor Roll. She earned UAB Presidential Honors every semester while on campus as well as being named to the UAB Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester.
On the golf course, Chandler carried a 76.6 stroke average during her senior campaign. She finished in second place at the USA Intercollegiate where she fired a two-under par, 70, in the second round.
Snodgrass carries a 3.93 GPA heading into her senior year as an accounting major. She joined Chandler on the 2017 Conference USA All-Academic Team. The West Virginia native has earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and the Commissioner's Honor Roll each year she's been on campus. She is a four-time recipient of UAB Presidential Honors recognizing her perfect 4.0 GPA in those semesters.
The junior led the Blazers in stroke average for the 2016-17 season with a 75.4 average over 27 rounds. She was named a member of the Conference USA All-Tournament Team after a tied for fourth finish at the spring championships. Snodgrass was tabbed to the C-USA Third Team for the previous season.
The Blazers tee off in their 2017-18 slate on Sept. 16 in Mobile, Ala., at the USA Jaguar Classic.
