UAB Shines in 800 Meter Run on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s track and field team competed at the South Alabama Invitational on Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Blazers had a number of strong performances, most notably in the 800 Meter Run.
UAB netted two top ten finishes in the 800 Meter Run. Marielle Lewis (2:17.11) finished in eighth-place while running a season-best for the program and Celestial Moon (2:18.03) finished in 10th place.
The Blazers also ran well in the 200 Meter Dash, as Melaney Frierson (25.70) and Karri Green (25.72) placed 20th and 21st, respectively, in a field of 44.
Green ran a season-best for the team in the 400 Meter Dash, finishing in 23rd with a time of 58.98, one spot ahead of Kandiss Briggs (59.28).
UAB has one last meet before hosting the Conference USA Championships. The Samford Invitational will be at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday, February 10.
