BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off a dominant offensive performance in its 113-20 exhibition win over Montevallo, the UAB women's basketball team gears up for its final tune-up game of the season as it welcomes Judson College to Bartow Arena on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
"We saw a lot of really good things in our first exhibition game," head coach Randy Norton said. "There were also a couple of things that I thought we could improve upon and I think we have done that in our last couple of practices. I am excited to see how our team performs in our final game before the start of the regular season."
UAB put on a show in its opening contest, finishing the game shooting 52.2 percent (36-for-69) from the field. All 11 Blazers that saw the court against the Falcons found themselves on the score sheet with five players scoring in double figures.
The defense was impressive as the Falcons were held to 20 points on 12.1 percent shooting (8-for-66). UAB held Montevallo under 10 points in all four quarters, including holding the Falcons scoreless in the second period.
Sophomore Katelynn Thomas paced the Blazers in the win with 22 points and nine rebounds while fellow sophomore Imani Johnson recorded a double-double off the bench with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Judson College comes into the game having finished the 2016-17 season at 3-19 overall. The Eagles return two of their top-three scorers from last year in Bailey Davis and Madison Casale who averaged 13.7 points and 11.0 points per game, respectively.
