BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women's basketball team put on another dominant offensive performance as eight players scored in double figures to help propel the Blazers to a 126-51 exhibition win over Judson College in Bartow Arena on Tuesday night.
The 126 points scored in the win marks the second-straight game that the Blazers have eclipsed the 100-point mark after scoring 113 points against the Montevallo Falcons in their first exhibition contest on Nov. 1.
"We look at these exhibition games as a dress rehearsal to get ready for our non-conference schedule," head coach Randy Norton said. "The girls get an opportunity to play in front of a crowd, the band and the cheerleaders. Those are the things you don't get to do in practice every day. I am really pleased with where we are at today and I am looking forward to the season starting."
UAB once again saw its offense firing on all cylinders as all 12 players recorded points in the game. Senior Kara Rawls played a big hand in that, recording a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards off the bench, while junior Maya Garland led the team in scoring with 18 points.
Sophomore Imani Johnson and junior Deanna Kuzmanic went for 16 points and 15 points, respectively, while Angela Vendrell, Rachael Childress and Lea Kerstein added 10 points apiece in the victory.
Talia Roldan, playing in just her second game in the Green and Gold, finished with 11 points on an impressive 3-for-4 shooting night which including a perfect 2-for-2 effort from behind the arc.
"We have really good depth on this team," Norton said. "But you can also see how unselfish our team is. We have a lot of weapons, but our players are willing to give up a decent shot for a better shot."
The Blazers built a sizable lead in the first quarter, leading the Eagles 38-8 after 10 minutes thanks to an impressive 68 percent (17-25) shooting percentage from the field.
UAB's defense held Judson College scoreless for nearly seven minutes over the course of the first and second periods to continue to build on its already insurmountable lead and take a 73-24 lead at the break.
From there, the Green and Gold finished the game by outscoring the Eagles 53-27 over the final two quarters of action to seal the 126-51 triumph.
Judson College was led by Madison Casale who finished the game with 17 points, while Libby Whitten and Bailey Davis posted 15 points and 10 points, respectively.
The Blazers' open the regular season game on Nov. 11 when the Green and Gold welcomes Mississippi Valley State to Bartow Arena at 2 p.m.
