BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After dominant performances in its two exhibition games, the UAB women's basketball team officially opens the 2017-18 regular season as it welcomes Mississippi Valley State to Bartow Arena at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
"Our girls are extremely excited to open the regular season against Mississippi Valley State," head coach Randy Norton said. "We saw a lot of really good things in our two exhibition games and in the offseason. I am pleased with where the team is right now and I am excited for the season to begin."
Norton returns a young and experienced squad that was picked to finish seventh in the conference by the league's head coaches. UAB welcomes back three starters from last season's team in Deanna Kuzmanic, Miyah Barnes and Rachael Childress, as well as seven letterwinners in Whytney Singleton, Angela Vendrell, Katelynn Thomas, T'erra Lewis, Kara Rawls, Maya Garland and Imani Johnson.
