Blazers Close Homestand Against LeMoyne-Owen College

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team closes a three-game homestand on Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Blazers host LeMoyne-Owen College at Bartow Arena.
UAB improved to 2-0 on Monday with a lopsided 89-47 victory over Chattanooga behind 19 points and three assists from Nate Darling. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native finished 7-for-11 from the field to help the Blazers shoot 50.0 percent from the field.
Newcomers Zack Bryant and Jalen Perry each scored 17 points and Chris Cokley secured his second straight double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against the Mocs. Cokley currently leads UAB in scoring (19.0 ppg) and rebounding (11.5 rpg) to help the Blazers rank ninth in the NCAA with a +22.0 rebounding margin.
Bryant ranks second on the team with 17.5 points per game and is shooting 73.3 percent from the field, while Perry pours in 14.0 points per game and is making 57.1 percent of his shots from three-point range.
LeMoyne-Owen (1-1) opened its season with a 60-52 victory over Shorter College before falling 66-58 to Union University on Saturday. Junior guard Daaron Maston leads the Magicians with 15.5 points per game and 2.5 assists per game, while senior guard Rashawn Ellis adds 11.0 points per game.
"It will be good to get out on the floor and play another game at home," UAB head coach Robert Ehsan said. "LeMoyne-Owen is a smaller team that is known for pushing the ball and playing up tempo, so we know we will be tested on defense against a quick team."
UAB and LeMoyne-Owen will meet on the hardwood for the first time in school history.
