Blazers Fall to Louisiana Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women's soccer team saw its six-game home unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday when the Blazers dropped a 1-0 decision to Louisiana Tech at BBVA Compass Field.
Louisiana Tech forward Jenna Dages scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half when she used a cross from Monica Gebler to collect her 10th goal of the season. Gebler played the ball from the right side into the UAB box that allowed Dages to push a header just over the outstretched hands of a leaping Kelsey Daugherty.
Daugherty finished with six saves and turned away two Louisiana Tech shots that were one-on-ones with her and a Lady Techster attacker. The Kennesaw, Ga., native finished the weekend with 243 career saves and needs only 14 more to move into fourth place all-time at UAB.
"I thought we came out strong early in the game, but we weren't able to create enough chances for the majority of the match," UAB head coach Erica Demers said. "We couldn't find a way to disrupt their backline or to pull them out, but give Louisiana Tech credit because that is something they are good at."
UAB returns to the pitch Friday at 7 p.m. when Blazers host Middle Tennessee on Senior Night from BBVA Compass Field.
