Blazers Continue Fall Slate in Jacksonville

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women's golf team continues its fall season with a trip to Florida to compete in the 10th Annual Jacksonville Classic. The tournament is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday Oct. 2-3 at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
UAB is coming off the Chris Banister Golf Classic held Sept. 24-26 at the Robert Trent Jones Silver Lakes in Glencoe, Ala. The Blazers tied for fourth.
Maria Donado leads the Blazers' lineup after consecutive top-10 finishes in UAB's first two tournaments this season. Donado has a team best 73.8 stroke average and a round of 69 under her belt this season.
Sydney Snodgrass looks to stay hot after a one-over 73 in the final round of the Chris Banister. The West Virginia native carries a 75.8 stroke average into this week's event.
Kenna Hughes is off to a stellar sophomore season thus far. She's yet to card a round in the 80s and ranks third on the team with a 76.5 stroke average.
Imy Huxley is also set to make the trip this week. She has been a solid part of the UAB lineup this season competing in every event and carries a 78.3 stroke average.
Kayla Wilbourn joins the UAB lineup for the first time this season. The senior competed as individual in the Full Moon Invitational on Sept. 25 and carded rounds of 77 and 74 to finish third.
Joining the Blazers this week in Florida is Bethune-Cookman, Charleston Southern, Flagler College, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Seminole State, Stetson, USC-Upstate, Xavier and junior college powerhouse Daytona State.
The 54-hole tournament takes place over two days with golfers playing 36-holes on Monday followed by the closing 18 on Tuesday. Fans can follow all of the action live on GolfStat.com.
