LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Gabrielle Vincent scored three goals and Louisville won its second straight match following a 4-0 victory over UAB Friday afternoon from Lynn Stadium.
Vincent notched her first goal of the match in the 32nd minute when the Cardinals capitalized on a set piece off a corner kick. Forward Allison Whitfield played the corner kick short to midfielder Niamh Nelson for a pass into the box that found Vincent for a header near post.
Another header from Vincent midway through the second half put Louisville ahead 2-0 in the 71st minute. Whitfield picked up an assist on the play as her corner kick into the UAB box allowed Vincent to convert into the top corner of the net.
“We’re a much better team than we showed tonight,” UAB head coach Harold Warren said. “Louisville is a very good team and will do well in the ACC.”
Vincent completed the hat trick with the goal in the 84th minute, and midfielder Tina Marolt connected in the 88th minute to cap the scoring.
Blazer keeper Kelsey Daugherty finished with a season-high six saves.
UAB returns to action Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Blazers welcome UNC Asheville to BBVA Compass Field.
