NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The UAB women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Belmont Wednesday evening in an exhibition game from Rose Park that featured three periods of 30 minutes.
Belmont netted the first goal of the match early in the opening period when Meg Howard capitalized off a corner kick.
UAB answered with the equalizer minutes before the end of the first period after freshman Megan Hudgens used a feed from Sarah Morris to beat the Belmont keeper as she left her line.
“I thought we played well for the most part and put ourselves in good positions when we had our opportunities,” UAB head coach Harold Warren said. “We will take away a lot of positives from the match and get back to practice and fix what needs to be fixed.”
UAB returns to the pitch Sunday at 12:30 p.m. when the Blazers travel to Mobile, Ala., to face in-state foe South Alabama in the final exhibition match of the preseason. UAB opens the regular season Friday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. when the Blazers host Austin Peay from BBVA Compass Field.
