BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB women’s tennis head coach Mark Tjia announced Wednesday that Marlene Herrmann has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Blazers in the fall.
Herrmann arrives in Birmingham by way of Dresden, Germany, and is currently ranked 127th in the women’s open rankings and 23rd in the U18 division in Germany.
Herrmann played primarily at the No. 4 position for her club team, TC Blau-WeiB Dresden Blasewitz, and helped the squad to the Regionalliga Division championship.
“We are very excited to welcome Marlene to our program,” Tija said. “She will bring a wealth of competition and experience. Marlene is the second student-athlete to join our program who has professional aspirations after college.”
