BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team closes its 2016 home schedule hosting UTSA in a three-game series at Mary Bowers Field beginning Saturday.
The series begins Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. CT. Fans will receive a free UAB softball lanyard while supplies last. Sunday's series finale will air nationally on the American Sports Network at 1 p.m. CT. Sunday's contest features a bandana giveaway and a postgame "Senior Day" ceremony is scheduled.

The Blazers currently lead the Western Division standings and rank second overall in the league with a 12-6 record after sweeping UTEP in El Paso, Texas, and are searching for their sixth conference series victory of the season.
The Roadrunners rank fifth in the Western Division standings with a 9-9 record. Last weekend, UTSA fell on the road, 2-1, to Louisiana Tech.
The Blazers lead the short all-time series, 3-2. This weekend's series marks the first time in series history that the Roadrunners have trekked to Birmingham.
UAB enters the weekend series after suffering back-to-back midweek losses to Chattanooga and Ole Miss.
Senior Caitlin Attfield leads the Blazers with a .363 batting average and a .441 on-base percentage, both ninth-best marks in the league. The shortstop also leads UAB with 34 runs scored, 11th-most in the league, and 57 hits, fifth-best in the conference.
The senior also leads the league and ranks 11th in the nation as the toughest player to strike out, recording just four strikeouts in 157 at-bats this season.
Reigning C-USA Co-Player of the Week Mary Warren leads UAB with 30 RBIs and a .596 slugging percentage, eighth-highest in the conference. The junior's 10 home runs leads the team and is tied for sixth in the league. Warren is just four home runs away from tying UAB's single-season record of 14.
The Blazer defense ranks second in the league and eighth in the country with a .975 fielding percentage.
Junior Cara Goodwin leads the Blazers with a 3.52 ERA and a 12-8 record. The right-hander has dealt 140.2 innings of work and has struck out 110 batters, sixth-most in the league. Over her 34 appearances, Goodwin has held batters to just a .231 average against her.
The Roadrunners are led by Jade Smtih's .310 average at the plate as the senior has scored 15 runs and plated 8 RBIs this season. Randee Crawford leads the team with 23 RBI and 12 home runs for a .511 slugging percentage.
Lizzy Fox leads the UTSA pitching staff with a 2.54 ERA and an 8-9 overall record. Fox has tossed seven complete games and has recorded three saves over 151.2 innings pitched, while striking out a team-high 70 batters.
