Blazers Baseball Hosts Alabama A&M Tuesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB baseball team takes on in-state foe Alabama A&M on Tuesday night at Regions Field at 6:30 p.m.
The Blazers are 9-15 on the year, looking to bounce back from a three-game sweep at Florida Atlantic University against a 6-20 Bulldogs team that has two road victories this season.
UAB is 2-2 in midweek matchups and 2-0 against in-state opponents, claiming wins over Troy and No. 22 Alabama at Regions Field. Including its wins over the Trojans and Crimson Tide, all nine of the Green and Gold’s wins have come at Regions Field.
Freshman Carter Pharis looks to carry over his hot streak from last week. The first baseman totaled five hits in four games against Alabama and FAU, hitting .333 for the week. His three-hit game against Florida Atlantic on Friday was his second of the season and fifth multi-hit game of the year.
Alabama A&M is led at the plate by freshman outfielder Nolan Ramsey and junior catcher Ryan Thrasher. Ramsey is hitting a team-best .348 with 24 hits and nine extra-base hits, and Thrasher follows with a .316 average on 18 hits.
The Bulldogs suffered a sweep against Jackson State over the weekend to fall to 3-5 in conference play. Their last win came March 23 with a 6-5 victory over the University of North Alabama.
Thus far, the only common opponent between the Blazers and Bulldogs has been Troy. The Trojans defeated Alabama A&M, 8-0, in Troy on March 22.
