Snodgrass Captures USA Women's Spring Invite Title

MOBILE, Ala. -Sophomore Sydney Snodgrass shined at the University of South Alabama Women's Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, taking first place in the two-day tournament.
Snodgrass paced the field, finishing at -3 with a 54-hole total of 213, and helped lead the UAB women's golfers to a fourth-place finish in the tournament. As a team, the Blazers shot +37 for a 901 total.
"Sydney played great," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "She was steady and proved she could handle a high-pressure situation. She went in today with a three-stroke lead and was able to stay out in front. That's a confidence booster."
Snodgrass, Juliana Sebastian and Rebecca Chandler represented the Blazers among the top 20. Sebastian shot 226 (+10) to tie for 11th, and Chandler tied for 20th at 230 (+14). Kayla Wilbourn and Jessica Rouillard rounded out the UAB lineup at 33rd and tied for 42nd, respectively. Wilbourn shot a 235 (+19), and Rouillard ended with 245 strokes (+29).
"I thought we played very well as a team," Wilcox said. "We had a long day yesterday, and we had to battle through some rainy weather today. The team held steady through a lot of different conditions."
It is the highest finish for the UAB women's golf team of the season. The Blazers twice tied for fifth in the fall at the Chris Banister Golf Classic in Jacksonville, Alabama, and UAB Fall Beach Blast in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is the second individual win of the season, as well. Wilbourn claimed first at the Beach Blast in November.
