Blazers Begin Season at BSC Icebreaker

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s track and field team competes in its first meet of the 2016-17 season on Friday, December 2 at the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker. The event takes place at the Birmingham Crossplex and begins at 9 a.m.
“We are excited to start competing this indoor season,” said head coach Kurt Thomas. “Our sprinters, jumpers and throwers have been working hard this fall and are ready to show what they can do. We will have some distance girls get in a race after finishing the cross country season a month ago. We always want to see these ladies execute in events the way we've been practicing. That's a huge step in being prepared for championship meets. This is a big first step to take advantage of many opportunities this season.”
The Blazers will have 14 athletes competing across 11 events. Four freshmen will get their first opportunities to run for the Blazers as Karri Green, Kyla Horn, Keila Robertson, and Jennifer Sharpe make their Green & Gold debuts.
