Southern Miss Downs UAB in Straight Sets

Erika Zembyla continues to be the offensive leader for the Blazers recording a team-high eight kills. Amber Treace posted 25 assists in the match and two kills for a .167 attack percentage.
Petra Silic led the team with an impressive .556 hitting percentage and tallied five kills along with leading the squad with three blocks.
Victoria Young was second on the team with six kills for a .286 hitting percentage and recorded two blocks in the match.
UAB kept the first set close until Southern Miss put together a five-point swing and pulled ahead 12-9. The Blazers couldn’t recover and fell 25-19.
The Golden Eagles dominated the second set from the very beginning. They pulled ahead early but UAB rallied back and tied the set 14-14. The Blazers would only score one more point in the 25-15 loss.
The third set was the Blazers’ best set of the night. Southern Miss pulled ahead with another early lead but the Blazers continued to fight but fell just short 25-21.
Stephany Purdue led the Golden Eagles’ offense with 13 kills for a .303 attack percentage but it was Sarah Bell who struck eight kills for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage that stood out.
The Blazers will be back on the court Thursday, Nov. 10 as they travel to Boca Raton, Fla., to battle Florida Atlantic for the last road game of the regular season.
