UAB Falls to Florida Atlantic on the Road

Erika Zembyla led the offensive charge with 11 kills on the night for a .360 attack percentage, bringing her season total to 332 kills. Haley Jared finished second on the squad with nine kills in the match and posted a .216 hitting percentage.
Victoria Young posted was a nightmare offensively and defensively. She recorded a team-high four blocks and posted a match-high .600 attack percentage. Emily Martinez covered the back line for the Blazers and tied for a match-high 16 digs.
Florida Atlantic jumped to an early 8-3 lead in the first set and the Blazers were forced to play catch-up the rest of the set but ended up losing 25-16.
The second set was the Blazers’ best of the night. UAB kept the score close and was tied as late as 13-13 but the Owls rallied and took the 25-19 win.
After the break, FAU came out and dominated the third set. The Owls jumped to a commanding 17-6 lead and the Blazers tried to string together a few points but FAU ran away with the 25-14 victory.
Kristi Tekavec led FAU with 12 kills for a .312 attack percentage and Abbi Reid was hot on her heels with 11 of her own and a team-high .421 hitting percentage. Defensively, Alex Cardona tied with UAB’s Martinez for a match-high 16 digs.
The Blazers return home for the final match of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 12 where Amber Treace, Caitlin Conner and Kassidy Sullivan will all be honored on Senior Day.
