BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ali Meister finished in fourth place and UAB registered 10 personal-best marks Thursday at the Samford Stand Alone Multi from the Birmingham Crossplex.
Meister recorded a career-best 3,362 points in the pentathlon after placing second in the high jump, third in the 60 meter hurdles, fourth in the long jump and 14th in the 800 meters.
She turned in a career-best time of 9.05 in the 60 meter hurdles and a career-long distance of 17-05.25 in the long jump.
“Ali has looked good the past few weeks and it really showed today,” UAB head coach Kurt Thomas said. “She was a bit off in the shot put and the long jump, but we’re excited to know she is capable of securing a lot of points for us once we reach Conference USA Championships.”
Sophomore Jimmeshia Wilder recorded personal bests in the 60 meter hurdles (9.54), high jump (4-11.50) and long jump (14-11.25) on her way to a 14th place finish. The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native finished with a career-best 2,813 points overall.
“Jimmeshia competed extremely well and had some good breakthroughs,” Thomas added. “We still expect more out of her in specific events, but we also expect her to be in a good spot at conference championships.”
Hannah Hensley also produced a strong showing, earning a personal-best mark in the 60 meter hurdles (9.62), high jump (5-04.25) and long jump (17-06.25).
“We feel like Hannah is ready to breakthrough, so it is going to be fun to watch her for the remainder of the season,” Thomas said.
