BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB's women's soccer team fell to Coastal Carolina, 3-1, Friday night at West Campus Field.
The Chanticleers' Kayla Christian took control of the match, tallying the hat trick to down the Blazers (1-3-0).
The two squads entered the halftime break locked at 1-1, but goals within 12 minutes of each other early in the second period proved to be the difference.
Christian put Coastal Carolina up 1-0 in the 14th minute off an assist from Darbie Kelley, before the Blazers evened it back up after Caroline Kehrer dished an assist to Alanna Dineen for the goal.
Christian went on to record her third and fourth goals of the season in the 53rd and 65th minute to make the final tally 3-1.
UAB took 11 shots while Coastal Carolina totaled five.
The Green and Gold return to the pitch next weekend at West Campus Field as part of UAB men's soccer's "Soccer For a Cure" Classic. The Blazers will take on Louisville at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
