UAB Falls to Chattanooga, 3-1

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Juniors Gabby Deshotel and Amber Treace recorded double-doubles, but the UAB volleyball team fell to Chattanooga, 3-1, to open the Scenic City Showdown on Friday night.
Deshotel tallied 24 kills for a .408 clip while adding 11 digs to the UAB defense to record her third double-double of the season. The outside hitter also contributed two block assists and one service ace.
Treace set up the UAB offense with 20 assists while garnering 13 digs for her first double-double of the season. Redshirt junior Emma Schroer added to the UAB defense with 11 digs.
Chattanooga opened the match with a set one victory, 25-21, but the Blazers battled back to win the second set, 28-26. The Mocs answered winning sets three and four to claim the match.
Sarah Batterton led the Mocs with 19 kills for a .643 hitting percentage.
The Blazers will return to action on Saturday with matches against Austin Peay at 9 a.m. CT and Gardner-Webb at 3:30 p.m. CT
