Women's Tennis Set For Pair Of Weekend Matches

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB's women's tennis team travels to the Sunshine State this weekend for a pair of matches, beginning with Conference USA foe FIU on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
The Blazers, who enter play this weekend with a 6-10 record and an even 2-2 mark in league play, will make the short trek to Orlando, Fla., to take on UCF on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
UAB's Amy Lowther has had the hot hand as of late, winning her last two matches. Lowther, who boasts five wins at the No. 5 singles spot, is 8-7 overall on the year, which is the best singles record on the team. In doubles, the team of Paula Castro and Caroline Faught lead the Blazers with a 4-3 record.
FIU enters Saturday's match with a perfect 4-0 C-USA mark, joining Middle Tennessee and UTEP as the league's unbeaten teams. The Blazers are 2-2 and are fighting for seeding in the 2015 Conference USA Championship, which will be held in Houston, Texas on April 16-19.
UCF, which plays in the American Athletic Conference, is currently 8-6 overall on the year and 2-5 in AAC action. The Knights have won three of their last four matches entering this week's action.
