BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 25th-ranked UAB softball team will wrap up its eight-game homestand on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. CT matchup against in-state foe Jacksonville State at UAB Softball Field.
After its third consecutive weekend sweep, UAB (21-5) enters the game riding a program-best 15-game win streak. UAB is 8-0 at home this season, including home sweeps of Conference USA foes UTEP and North Texas the past two weekends. Each of those two schools swept their opponent in their other respective Conference USA series.
Jacksonville State (15-7) is 8-2 in its last 10 games played and won all three of its games last week. On Saturday, Jacksonville State swept a doubleheader against Cleveland State, 6-2 and 5-3, and defeated Georgia Tech in a midweek matchup, 2-1.

Goodwin's 10-0 Start Best in School History
Cara Goodwin earned her ninth and 10th wins of the 2015 season this weekend, and sits undefeated at 10-0 for the season. Over the history of the UAB softball program, no pitcher before Goodwin started10-0, with Jennifer Nelson's 5-0 start in 2006 standing as the previous best. Lauren Webster's 10-2 start in 2011 was the previous best record at 10 wins. A breakdown of some of the best starts by UAB pitchers is below:

Scouting Jacksonville State
UAB and Jacksonville State have met 31 times previously on the softball diamond, as the two teams have played each other since the UAB softball program began in 2000. In the all-time series, Jacksonville State holds a 16-15 edge over UAB, but the Blazers have won five of the past six matchups.
Jacksonville State has five lineup regulars batting over .300, and is outscoring opponents, 110-67. The Gamecocks are led at the plate by Sara Borders, who is batting .354 with five home runs and 19 RBI. Jordan Bullock leads the team with a .370 batting average, and has season totals of nine runs scored and seven RBI.
Taylor West has started 11 of Jacksonville State's 22 games in the circle, compiling a 4-2 record with a 2.12 ERA, 44 strikeouts and four complete games. Logan Green is the Gamecocks' winningest pitcher thus far (6-2), and has a 2.43 ERA in a team-high 54.2 innings pitched. Whitney Gillespie rounds out the staff with a 5-2 record, a 2.23 ERA and a team-low .191 batting average against.
