BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Fresh off a weekend sweep to start the season, the UAB baseball team is set to play Jacksonville State twice this week in midweek contests.
The Blazers and Gamecocks are set for first pitch at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Regions Field, and UAB will make the return trip to Jacksonville on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. contest.

Series History
Jacksonville State enters the midweek matchups with a 31-27 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1979. The two teams have split the last four meetings with UAB winning the last matchup, 14-9, in Jacksonville.
Scouting The Opponent
Jacksonville State also enters the matchup with a 3-0 mark on the year after sweeping Youngstown State to begin the 2015 campaign.
The Gamecocks defeated the Penguins, 13-1, 9-4 and 10-5, totaling 36 hits and seven extra-base hits over the weekend. Paschal Petrongolo leads the Gamecock offense with a .600 batting average and six hits through 10 at-bats, including a triple and a home run with four RBI.
The JSU starting pitching staff combined to throw 14.1 innings on the weekend, allowing just one earned run in the process. The Gamecocks' staff combined for 25 strikeouts as 11 different pitchers took the mound in opening weekend.
Tyler Gamble enters the midweek series as the team leader in RBI with six off just three hits in eight at-bats. Ryan Sebra drove in five runs to start the year off four hits.
