Nelson, Rishell Earn All-Tournament Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Sydney Nelson and senior Sara Rishell were named to the Residence Inn Challenge All-Tournament Team for their performances with the UAB volleyball team this weekend.
Nelson had her second-straight all-tournament team selection after also earning the honor for the UAB/Samford Tournament. She led the Blazers with 23 kills, including a 10 against Idaho State, over the three matches on .222 hitting percentage.
Rishell was solid all-around for UAB with 14 kills, five blocks, five digs and four service aces for the tournament. She had her best against Iowa, posting seven kills in 10 attempts with no errors for .700 hitting percentage.
UAB will return to action at home this week with a mid-week match against Chattanooga on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. CT.
