UAB Finishes Sixth At Chris Banister Golf Classic

GLENCOE, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team closed out its fall season opener on Tuesday with a total team score of 953 to tie for sixth at the Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State.
The Blazers shot a 316 in the final round to finish at 89-over par, 953 overall to tie with Belmont and South Alabama for sixth place.
"It was a great finish for the freshmen," head coach Kim Wilcox said. "This is a good start and we're looking forward to going to Cincinnati this weekend."
Freshman Sydney Snodgrass had a solid collegiate debut, carding a top-five finish in the 54-hole tournament. The Harrisville, W. Va. native finished with a three round total of 224 (+8) to finish fifth after firing a 3-over, 75 in Tuesday's action.
Kayla Wilbourn also started her collegiate career off on the right foot after firing a 4-over, 76 on Tuesday to finish tied for 22nd at 235 (+19).
Senior Holly Robinson finished as UAB's number three player after finishing with rounds of 80, 84 and 81 to total a 29-over, 245 finishing tied for 39th.
Senior Jesse Lawley fired an 84 on Tuesday to record a finish of 46th at 33-over, 249 overall. Margaret Yeh turned in UAB's low score of 85 on Tuesday to finish 56th at 256 (+40).
Troy won the team championship after firing a three round total of 900 (+36). Troy's Fatima Fem Cano topped her teammate Langley Vannoy by one stroke overall to claim the individual title at 1-over, 217.
The Blazers return to the course next week for the Bearcat Classic, held Oct. 6-7 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
