Women's Golf Opens Season At Chris Banister Golf Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team is set to open its fall season on Sunday with the first round of the Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State in Glencoe, Ala.
The Blazers are coming off a 12th place finish in the Conference USA Championship back in the spring and welcome three newcomers to the 2014-15 squad.
Rebecca Chandler, Jesse Lawley, Holly Robinson, Jessica Rouillard and Margaret Yeh all return to the course for the Blazers with experience, while Juliana Sebastian, Sydney Snodgrass and Kayla Wilbourn all begin their freshman campaigns of collegiate golf.
Rouillard returns with the team's best stroke average from a season ago with an 81.86 mark in 12 tournaments played last year. Yeh played in seven tournaments last year and averaged 81.88 strokes.
UAB will hit the course four times over the next two months, capping the fall schedule with the UAB Fall Beach Blast in Gulf Shores. The Blazers will play in the Bearcat Classic Oct. 6-7 hosted by Cincinnati and compete in Middle Tennessee's Blue Raider Invitational Oct. 20-21.
Eleven schools will be represented at UAB's opening tournament of the season, including the host Gamecocks, Belmont, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Samford, Austin Peay, Alabama State, South Alabama, Troy and Lipscomb.
The Green and Gold will tee-off at 9 a.m. Sunday morning from the par-72, 5,943-yard Silver Lakes Course and will be paired with Austin Peay and Northern Kentucky.
