BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Fresh off a successful split-squad weekend in California and Florida, the UAB track and field team will return to action on Friday in SEC meet action at the Tennessee Relays and Spec Towns Invitational.
UAB will send student-athletes to compete in the 100-meter dash and hurdles, 400-meter and 200-meter runs in Knoxville, which are set to begin at 12:45 p.m. Friday. The Blazers will be represented in Athens at Georgia’s home meet in the 800-meter run, 1,500-meter run and heptathlon, which beings at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and runs through 4:40 p.m.
Teams set to compete at the Tennessee Relays presented by Sea Ray include Arkansas State, Ashland, Ballarmine, Belmont, Bryan, Campbellsville, Carson Newman, Central Arkansas, Citadel, Clayton State, Concord, Connecticut, Cumberlands, Dalton State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, ETSU, Findlay, Illinois State, Indianapolis, Jacksonville State, Kent State, King, Lee, Lipscomb, Marietta, Michigan State, Milligan, Morehead State, MTSU, Northern Kentucky, Olivet, Olivet Nazarene, Pittsburgh, Roanoke, SE Missouri, Shawnee State, Shorter, Tennessee, Tennessee Wesleyan, Tiffin, Vanderbilt, Wayne State and Youngstown State.
UAB will also be represented in Friday’s triple jump in Knoxville, which is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. The Blazers will wrap-up competition on Saturday with limited action in the field events, which are set to begin at 11 a.m.
UAB will also send individuals to compete in Georgia’s Heptathlon, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday with the 100-meter hurdles. Four events will take place on Friday and the three remaining – long jump, javelin and 800-meter run – will conclude on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
Seven teams are slated to compete in the two-day event in Athens, while individuals from UAB will join others from Wisconsin and Georgia Tech in Georgia’s home meet.
