MOBILE, Ala. ---- The UAB women's golf team stands in 12th place following action on Day One of the 2013 South Alabama Women's Invitational at the Azalea City Golf Course.
The Blazers fired a +72, two-round team total 648. Tuesday's lone round begins with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
Senior Caitlin Watts was the top Blazer performer on the day, shooting a 10-over par, 154 to stand in 22nd place going into the final round.
Blazer golfer Margeret Yeh fired a 14-over par 86 on the first 18 holes, but rebounded with a strong six-over par 78 to claim a tie for 60th. Teammate Jesse Lawley is also tied for 60th place with her 20-over par, 164.
"Today was a grind," head coach Kim Wilcox, whose team played a grueling two rounds on Monday, said. "Catilin continues to play great for us. She really struggled to begin the second round but did a nice job to rebound. We just have to come back out here tomorrow and keep grinding and getting better."
UAB's Jessica Rouillard stands in a tie for 66th place following her 22-over par, 166. Meanwhile, Holly Robinson rounded out play for the Blazers with her 28-over par, 172.
