Football Builds Excitement Toward Home Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Heading into its final home game of the season, the UAB football team practiced for over two hours on Thursday afternoon as it continued working on the game plan for No. 18 Marshall.
UAB knows there is a lot to play for entering the matchup against undefeated Marshall. With it being Senior Day, head Coach Bill Clark feels that should help motivate the team.
“We understand how good the team we are playing this week really is and what kind of challenge that is,” Clark said. “But getting to be at home, with the seniors' last game at Legion Field, we should be inspired. It is just another opportunity for us. You work so hard for these very few opportunities, and we should be ready.”
The Blazers bring experience against nationally-recognized programs, having already faced SEC foes Mississippi State and Arkansas this season. Closing out the home slate against the top team in the Conference USA East Division brings a challenge that Clark hopes the team embraces.
"This is why you play the game,” Clark stated. “This is the fun of these opportunities. There is pressure on our guys. I don't want them to feel that but I do want them to know how hard they are going to have to play. That is the thing you see when teams are getting blown out. That is something that really gets your attention. They are well coached. We have a huge challenge, but this is something we should embrace and something we should love."
Fans can listen to Saturday's game on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with David Crane (play-by-play), Steve Irvine (analyst) and Sam Miller (sideline) on the call. The game will broadcast locally on WUHT-FM 107.7.
