Eager Blazers Working Toward Marshall Matchup

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team hit the practice fields Wednesday afternoon to continue preparations for Saturday's home finale against No. 18 Marshall.
"I think we had another really good day," head coach Bill Clark said after practice. "I think we know where our minds have got to be and where our focus should be. We're glad we've got a few more days to finish it off, but I was pleased with them."
Marshall enters the matchup as just one of two undefeated teams left (Florida State is the other) in the nation, and tops in the Conference USA East Division standings with two games remaining on the schedule. Clark alluded to the opportunity the Blazers have in front of them heading into the final two Saturdays of the season.
"I think it's 100 percent this is why you play the game," Clark added. "You play to play against great teams and to have a chance to beat teams like this. That's why we play and that's what we've said all along. We embrace these challenges and we know they're going to come in here ready to go."
Clark also referenced the game atmosphere, and the high expectations for Saturday's Senior Day clash with the Thundering Herd.
"I thought we had a really good crowd in the last game," Clark said. "The biggest thing is our fans have got to get into it. That's part of learning how to be a fan of a team that's going to compete their tails off. We respond to our fans, that's why it's called home. It's not going to be as cold as it has been the last few days and we really need them."
Fans can listen to Saturday's game on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with David Crane (play-by-play), Steve Irvine (analyst) and Sam Miller (sideline) on the call. The game will broadcast locally on WUHT-FM 107.7.
