"Of course, we bundled up real good out here, but our guys have embraced it," head coach Bill Clark said. "We had a really good day today, and it's always nice to get over here to Legion Field and practice where we are going to play on Saturday. Overall, I thought our guys just had a solid day today."
UAB is busy preparing for an undefeated Marshall team that sits atop the Conference USA East Division standings at 10-0 overall and 6-0 in league action.
Marshall ranks first in C-USA in both total offense (567.2 yards per game) and total defense (322.2 yards per game), and is led by senior quarterback Rakeem Cato, who ranks third in the league in passing with 261.3 yards per game through the air.
Clark and the Blazers see the opportunities that lie ahead in Saturday's game, which will be the last home contest for the UAB senior class.
"I just know for me personally they mean a lot," Clark said. "I know what kind of guys they are and they have tried to do everything we have asked them to do from academics to leadership. I think when you get a whole new philosophy for the third time, and for them to embrace that and believe in our coaching staff, it just makes me proud of them."
Fans can listen to Saturday's game on the Blazer IMG Sports Network with David Crane (play-by-play), Steve Irvine (analyst) and Sam Miller (sideline) on the call. The game will broadcast locally on WUHT-FM 107.7.
