Women's Soccer Falls at Louisiana Tech, 2-1

RUSTON, La. - The UAB women's soccer team lost its first match in Conference USA play, falling at Louisiana Tech, 2-1. Sophomore forward Kimberly Fincher tallied the Blazers' lone goal of the contest.
Louisiana Tech (9-4-1, 1-3-0 C-USA) broke the scoreless tie in the 47th minute with a header by Donya Salomon, her first of the season, which beat junior goalkeeper Angelica Jimenez near-post.
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead off a goal from Kathryn Sloan just five minutes later in the 52nd minute.
Sophomore forward Kimberly Fincher responded for UAB (5-6-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) one minute later with her fourth tally of the season, ninth of her career. Freshman midfielder Katherine Foster and junior midfielder Paige Hanks were credited with the assist after the ball was deflected inside the box and bounced into the net.
Fincher has found the back of the net in back-to-back games and four times in the past four matches. Hanks' assist brings her season total to a team-high four, while Foster recorded her first point in the Green and Gold.
The Bulldogs outshot UAB 21-15 and put four more shots on target, 8-4.
Sophomore Morgan Key-Adams tied a career-high with four shots, two of which found their way on net. Sophomore forward Kasey Johnson and Hanks both recorded three shots.
Jimenez turned away six shots and has made 74 saves this season, 12 coming this weekend.
The Blazer defense allowed two goals for the first time since falling at Troy on Sept. 14, 2-1.
UAB returns home to West Campus Field on Friday, Oct. 10, against FIU at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 12, against Florida Atlantic at 1 p.m. The Blazers are 3-0-0 at home this season and outscoring its opponents 14-0 in Birmingham, Ala.
