Track Team At NCAA East Regional This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB track & field team will send eight competitors to this weekend's NCAA East Regional Preliminary Round at Greensboro, N.C. The meet gets underway Thursday, May 23 and will run through Saturday, May 25.
The top 48 ranked athletes in each event have qualified for the East Regional with the top 12 from this weekend moving on to the NCAA Championships at Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.
The Blazers will be led by senior distance runner Rhiannon Johns who has qualified for the 5,000 and the 10,000-meter runs. Johns earned All-America recognition two years ago at NCAAs in the 5,000-meter run. Other UAB participants will be Sarah Hudak and Elinor Kirkjoining Johns in the 5,000 with Hudak also running in the 1,500-meter run.
Rachel Harley will run in the 400-meter hurdles with the Blazers' 400-meter relay team of Kyana White, Angel Watson, Shakima Knox and Alexis Batesalso among the entries.
The meet gets underway Thursday with Harley (400m hurdles), Hudak (1,500m) and Johns (10,000m) running.

3:30 p.m. - Rachel Harley, 400-meter hurdles
4:30 p.m. - Sarah Hudak, 1,500-meter run
8:00 p.m. - Rhiannon Johns, 10,000-meter run
Saturday, May 25
5:00 p.m. - Kyana White, Angel Watson, Shakima Knox, Alexis Bates, 400-meter relay
7:05 p.m. - Rhiannon Johns, Sarah Hudak, Elinor Kirk, 5,000-meter run
