Women's Tennis Battles Tulane And ULM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Following a week away from the courts, the UAB women’s tennis team returns to action as the squad heads to Louisiana for two matches.
The Blazers face C-USA foe Tulane at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday, before battling with ULM on Monday at 11 a.m. CT.
UAB comes into the weekend 8-3 overall and 1-0 in Conference USA action. Tulane enters the weekend ranked No. 48 in the ITA standings and boasts a 6-5 record, including a 3-1 mark in league play.
The Blazers face a ULM team on Monday that is 7-1 overall following a 7-0 blanking of Nicholls State on Friday.
UAB, which has already topped last season’s six win total, is off to a strong start under first-year head coach Lisa Jackson. The Blazers are a combined 18-4 at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles courts in dual match play and boast an overall 18-8 record in doubles this season.
The Green and Gold has won two-straight contests on the year after taking four consecutive victories to begin the season.
Following play this weekend, UAB returns to George Ward Park for five-straight contests at home. The Blazers open the slate with a bout against No. 15 Notre Dame on Thursday, March 14 at 1 p.m. CT.
