Webster Named C-USA Pitcher Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Senior pitcher Lauren Webster was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for her performance at the Magic City Classic, the league announced on Monday. This is Webster's first league honor, and UAB's second of the season.
Over the weekend, Webster threw a pair of complete games in the 4-1 win over Nicholls State and the 2-0 victory over Murray State. She was also named Co-Most Valuable Pitcher of the tournament for her efforts.
In 14 innings, the Mathews, Ala., native retired 26 batters, including 14 in the win over Murray State to match her career high for the second time this season. The win was also her third shutout of the year.
Webster posted a 0.00 ERA at the Magic City Classic, and currently leads the league with an overall ERA of 0.83.
Up next, the Webster and the Blazers (8-5) travel to Orlando, Fla., to take on UCF in their Conference USA opener. Saturday's doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. CT, while Sunday's game will start at 10:30 a.m. CT.
