McGrath Named C-USA Softball Hitter Of The Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--UAB junior designated hitter Kristen McGrath was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week after hitting three home runs last weekend at the 2013 Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic, hosted by the University of Hawaii.
The Tampa, Fla., native hit her first home run of the tournament during UAB's 4-3 victory over No. 16 Washington. McGrath blasted two more during the Blazers' 5-3 win over Ole Miss, and drove in seven more runs throughout the three-day tournament.
Through the first five games of the season, the junior has been to the plate 16 times, hit a team-best .375 and owns a .938 slugging percentage.
This is McGrath's first Hitter of the Week award. She was also named to the Paradise Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
McGrath and the Blazers (3-2, 0-0 C-USA) return to action at the Kennesaw State Classic, Feb. 16-17. UAB will take on Eastern Kentucky and SIUE on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET, respectively. On Sunday, UAB will face IUPUI at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by UT Martin at 3:30 p.m. ET.
