UAB Opens C-USA Women's Golf Championship Monday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB women's golf team gets the 2012 Conference USA Championship started early Monday morning at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Play begins Monday at 7:30 a.m. with the Blazers slated to go off the 10th tee. UAB's contingent consists of Caitlin Watts, Jaime Ritter, Margaret Yeh, Holly Robinson and Lindsey Gipson.
The championship consists of 54 holes on a par 72, 6,246-yard course spanning three days, with the winning team receiving an automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals. This is the second straight year that the tournament has been hosted at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
Three teams ranked among the top 40 in the nation are competing in this year's field -- Tulane (32), Tulsa (33) and UCF 38.
