UAB Hosts Troy For Tuesday Tilt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –The UAB softball team will host in-state opponent Troy on Tuesday at the UAB Softball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.

Series History
The Blazers and Trojans will meet for the 21st time on Tuesday. Troy’s owns the all-time series 12-8, but UAB has won the last three of four meetings.
Last season, UAB and Troy met twice with each team taking home a win. Troy defeated the Blazers, 2-0, on Feb. 12 as part of the All-Alabama Classic in Vestavia Hills, Ala., before UAB won, 4-2, on April 19 in Troy, Ala.
Leigh Streetman pitched a complete-game three-hitter and Kayla Orr went 2-for-3 with one run and an RBI in the win.
UAB At A Glance
The Blazers (20-13, 7-2 C-USA) went 1-2 against Houston last weekend, posting a 3-2 victory in game one, before falling 2-1 and 6-5 in the final two games of the series.
The 3-2 win was UAB’s seventh consecutive league win this season, marking the first time in program history the Blazers went 7-0 in their first seven C-USA games.
The Blazers are batting .281 as a team led by senior Mandy Lowman (.438). The clean up hitter is slugging .753, has an on-base percentage of .545 and has walked a team-high 20 times.
Sophomore Lannah Campbell (9-4) leads the Blazer pitching staff with 91 strike outs in 80 innings pitched. As a staff, the Blazers own a 2.31 ERA, second best in C-USA, and have held opponents to a .232 hitting clip.
Scouting Troy
Troy (22-11, 4-6 Sun Belt) is 4-6 in its last 10 games, including taking 2-of-3 against FIU last weekend at home.
As a team, the Trojans are batting .271 led by Sarah Shields (.345). Nikki Hollet leads the squad with 23 RBI, while Hayden Gann and Hannah Renn have scored 24 runs apiece.
Pitcher Ashley Rainey (11-5) has tossed nine complete games and has a team-best 2.80 ERA. Rainey has fanned 64 batters and has walked just 18 in 112.1 innings pitched.
