UAB Notebook
>UAB finished last week 1-3, defeating in-state foe Alabama prior to dropping all three games at East Carolina.
>1B John Frost roped a two-out walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 12th to break a 0-0 tie against the Crimson Tide. It was the fourth time UAB won in walk-off fashion in 2012.
>Frost finished the week hitting .368 (7-for-19) with five runs scored and four RBI, which included tying a career-best with three hits in game one vs. the Pirates. He had a hit in all four games and extended his current hitting streak to seven games.
>Five pitchers - RHP Tanner Bryant, RHP Chase Mallard, LHP Dylan Munger, RHP Ryan Nance and RHP Jacob German - worked in the 12-inning shutout against the Tide without walking a batter. The victory marked the second time this season that UAB defeated a team 1-0 in 12 innings. The Blazers beat Ball State on Feb. 25 by the same score using the same number of innings.
>The 6-5 13-inning loss at East Carolina in the series finale marked the first time UAB lost in extras this season. The Blazers had been 3-0 prior to falling to the Pirates on Sunday. It was also the longest game played in by UAB since April 13, 2011, when the Green and Gold fell 6-4 in 13 innings against Memphis.
>In the series finale vs. ECU, RHP Michael Busby worked 7.2 innings for the second consecutive start, tying his career-high in a no decision. Busby recorded the same number of outs a week earlier in a win over Marshall.
>3B Patrick Palmeiro tops the team in RBI (19) and doubles (10). His two-bagger total is tied for second in Conference USA.
